The 2009 MudCoast Road Rally is a free exclusive event for members of Road Rally Charities. Held on a yet to be determined Saturday, it is a road rally designed to utilize as many B level maintenance and gravel roads in rural Iowa as possible.

Participants will be notified of the date no more than a week before the start as weather and ground conditions will dictate when we will see the best mud. The course will be approximately 100 miles and cover almost exclusively gravel and earthen roads. Participants will meet at the Waveland Fairgrounds Café at 304 e 3oth St in Des Moines and should expect to leave there at 9:30 am. Everyone is encouraged to arrive by 8:30 to have enough time to enjoy their famous breakfast.

Conditions may be wet, cold and muddy and everyone should dress accordingly. Vehicles should be equipped to handle adverse road conditions including mud, snow, ice, gravel, cow pies, etc. Level B maintenance roads can be dangerous and drivers should at all times drive within their vehicles limits and their own abilities. B Level and gravel road conditions vary greatly and some vehicles may find some roads impassable.

The MudCoast Rally is designed to be a very informal event and at times participants may need to find alternate routes. The route will take the participants to a small town Iowa cafe for lunch. After lunch the route will take the caravan back towards Des Moines through new and previously driven roads. Awards ceremony will take place at Skybox Lounge on 8th street in West Des Moines around 6pm. This gives participants time after the rally to clean up after a possibly muddy afternoon, before awards cocktails and dinner if they choose.

More information regarding suggested vehicle specifications and other suggested items will be relayed as the date comes closer.
